Norton Community High School, built in 1976, is carpeted and air-conditioned. It has updated technology equipment, including the new technology addition of 1996. Over 80 curricular units are offered; 23 units are required for graduation. A student-centered library is equipped with technology for research, the internet, and interlibrary exchange, networked with the Northwest Kansas Library System.

A highly successful activities program offers football, volleyball, cross country, wrestling, basketball, track, tennis, and golf. The 30 member Bluejay Marching Band is recognized statewide for excellence in performance.

Many students have received state honors in vocal and instrumental music, drafting, journalism, forensics, quiz bowl, Knowledge Masters Open, and art as well as athletics.

State assessment math, writing, reading, science, and social studies are consistently above state averages. NCHS has a graduation rate of 95%.

80% of graduating students continue their education at various colleges and technical schools. ACT scores show that NCHS students perform above the state average and take a strong core curriculum for post-secondary placement. Strong preparatory programs exist in agriculture, business, computer, and drafting technologies. Many students continue their studies in the fields of communications technology and computer information systems.
