Math Assessment Test Preparation Begins

Beginning this week, sophomores at NCHS begin test preparation for the upcoming math assessment tests. The students will work with selected Math instructors during Activity Periods until the test dates in April.

MCL Art Show

Lady Jays Season Comes to an End

On Tuesday, March 2, the NCHS Lady Jays basketball team traveled to Beloit to face the Trojans in 1st round action in the Class 3A Substate. The Jays were able to get off to a solid start, but the strength of the Trojans took over and were able to defeat the Lady Jays 50-32. The loss ends the season for the Lady Jays, finishing the 2009-10 campaign with a 9-12 record.

Boys Basketball Season Comes to an End

On Monday, March 1, the NCHS Bluejays hosted the Smith Center Redmen in the first round of the Class 3A SubState Tournament. Although the Jays were able to earn a halftime lead, the Redmen were able to come back in the 2nd half to earn a 44-36 win. The loss ends the season for the Bluejays with a 12-9 record.

NCHS Wrestlers Earn Class 3-2-1A State Championship

The NCHS Wrestling team won the Class 3-2-1A State Championship last weekend at Fort Hays State University. As a team, the Bluejays dominated the competition, scoring 174.5 points to outdistance runnerup Smith Center by 94 points. The Jays were able to win 9 individual medals, led by State Championships for John Risewick at 103, Kaenon Keiswetter at 145, and Landon Keiswetter at 152. State 2nd place finishers were Troy Bainter at 125, Spencer Shirk at 160, and Zane Perez at 171. 4th Place medals were earned by Billy Broeckelman at 130 and Kaid McKenna at 189, and 5th place was won by Connor Pfannenstiel at 140.

The public is invited to participate in a "SEND OFF" for the State qualifying wrestlers on Thursday, February 25 at 5:15 pm at the Wrestling Room.

NCHS Wrestling To State Tournament

The NCHS Wrestling team will take part in the 2010 Class 3-2-1A State Wrestling Tournament to be held at Gross Memorial Coliseum on the campus at Fort Hays State University Friday-Saturday, February 26-27. The Jays will be sending 10 wreslters to the competition. Good Luck!!

The Class 3A SubState Basketball Tournament brackets have been released. The Boys earned the #3 seed and will host the Smith Center Redmen Monday, March 1 at 7:00 pm. The NCHS Lady Jays earned the #6 seed and will travel to Beloit to face the Trojans on Tuesday, March 2 at 7:00 pm.

The NCHS Boys basketball team ended the regular season portion of their schedule this week with games at Plainville and at home against Colby for Senior Night. The Jays were able to earn a split of the two games, losing at Plainville 68-54, but coming back to earn a 46-39 victory over the Eagles. The Jays finish the regular season 12-8, 4-4 in MCL action.

The NCHS Lady Jays basketball team finished the regular season this week with games at Plainville and at home for Senior Night against Colby. The Lady Jays were upended at Plainville 46-38 and by Colby by a score of 38-22. The Lady Jays end the regular season with a 9-11 overall record, 3-5 in MCL play

Wrestlers Win Regional; Send 10 to State

On February 19-20, NCHS hosted the Class 3-2-1A Regional Wrestling tournament. The Jays had an outstanding weekend, winning the tournament by 86 points over runnerup Phillipsburg. The Jays were able to qualify 10 wrestlers for the State Wrestling Tournament--John Risewick at 103 (1st at Regionals), Troy Bainter at 125 (1st), Billy Broeckelman at 130 (2nd), Connor Pfannenstiel at 140 (4th), Kaenon Keiswetter at 145 (2nd), Landon Keiswetter at 152 (1st), Spencer Shirk at 160 (1st), Zane Perez at 171 (2nd), Kaid McKenna at 189 (1st), and Tyler Cook at 215 (4th).

Girls Basketball Loses at Ellis

On Friday, February 19, the NCHS Lady Jays traveled to Ellis to take on the Railroaders. It was a closely contested battle, but the Railers were able to hold off the Lady Jays, handing them a 40-38 loss. The loss moves the Lady Jays to 9-9 overall and 3-4 in MCL action.

On Friday, February 19, the NCHS Bluejays Basketball team traveled to Ellis to take on the Railroaders in MCL action. After a close 1st half, the Jays were able to take a lead midway into the 3rd quarter. Ellis was able to retake the lead and pull away in the 4th quarter, handing the Jays a 55-43 loss. The loss moves the Jays to 4-3 in MCL action, and 11-7 overall.

On Tuesday, February 16, the NCHS Bluejay Boys Basketball team took on the Hoxie Indians in non-league action. The Jays were able to control the action throughout the evening, earning a 65-43 victory. The win moves the Jays to 11-6 on the season.

On Tuesday, February 9, the NCHS Lady Jays hosted the Oberlin Red Devils in non-league action. The Jays were able to jump out to a quick lead and were able to hold off a 4th quarter charge by the Red Devils to earn a 37-32 victory. The victory moves the Lady Jays to 8-8 on the season.

After a sluggish 1st half that left the Jays in a 9 point halftime deficit, the Jays were able to respond in the 2nd half and earn a 48-37 victory. The win moves the Jays to 10-6 on the season.

On Friday, January 5, the NCHS Wrestling team traveled to Ellis to take on Ellis and Plainville in dual action. They Jays were able to go 2-0 on the evening, defeating Ellis 55-13 and Plainville 55-15.

On Saturday, February 6, the NCHS Wrestling Team traveled to Phillipsburg to take part in the Panther Classic. They Jays were able to earn the team championship with 148.5 points, defeating Abilene by 3.5 points. Individual champions were John Risewick at 103, Troy Bainter at 125, Billy Broeckelman at 130, and Kaenon Keiswetter at 145.
